APPI Edmonton Event - Planning for First Nations
For some planners in Alberta, working with First Nations is part of normal business. Yet, many other planners have little or no experience with working with First Nations. Ryan Robb's presentation will examine historical and contemporary issues that impact business interactions with First Nations. Utilizing business case examples and open discussion, Ryan will share tools to mitigate risk and increase positive working relationships with First Nations.
Ryan was most recently the Chief Executive Officer for both Treaty 7 Management Corporation and the Treaty 7 First Nations Chiefs’ Association. For the past 12 years he has worked for these organizations (and their predecessor Treaty 7 Tribal Council) in a number of different capacities including as Director of Business Development and Information Technology.
Currently he is the Regional Manager of Government and Aboriginal Affairs for Opus Stewart Weir, where his skills are being utilized to increase business through a balanced approach between contemporary business practices and respecting traditional values of all parties.
