APPI Volunteers to Serve on NAIT’s Focus Group Exploring Supporting Planners in the APPI Jurisdiction

APPI is seeking regulated members (Candidate and RPPs) to serve on a focus group led by NAIT for the purpose of exploring the production and technology needs of the planning industry, and how stronger connections might be built within the planning sector.    The focus group will meet virtually, therefore volunteers are not required to be geographically located in Edmonton and area.  The estimated time commitment is two hours, subject to a potential future expansion of the role of the focus group.  Please submit your expression of interest paragraph of 200 words or less, to [email protected] by March 22, 2026, and include your name and preferred email address for this volunteer opportunity.

The goals of this preliminary focus group discussion are to:

  2. Identify potential connections between landscape architectural technology and the planning profession, including a discussion of the roles the LAT grads have been historically filling in the planning profession to date.
  3. Engage planners to understand what gaps may exist in technical support in the planning industry.
  4. Review the existing LAT curriculum against focus group needs/ wants to see what skills are currently aligned to planning and what might be aligned in the future.
