CRSC Speaker Series - Cities in the Age of Climate Change
Vancouver City Council has set the goal of becoming the grrenest city in the world by 2020. Achieving this ambitious goal in the context of changing climate requires collaboration from everyone who lives and works in Vancouver. Sadhu will discuss ways that municipal governments are working with residents to make our cities more resillient, lower their greenhouse gas emissions, and improve the quality of life.
Vancouver's Greenest City Action Plan is an ambitious strategy to make Vancouver the greenest city in the world by 2020, with 10 goal areas, each with quantifiable targets. The development of the plan involved over 35,000 both in person and online.
He will share examples from Chicago and Vancouver to demonstrate how cities are transforming their operations, supporting the active participation of residents, and developing programs to involve the business community.
This event qualifies for 2.0 APPI structured learning units.
The Regional Planning Speakers Series (RPSS) is a year-long educational program made up of a series of lectures, panel discussions and workshops. It is a forum for stakeholders including planners, architects, designers, community members, academics, and students. Our aim is to promote connections, share ideas and build capacity in ways which promote resilience and sustainability, develop robust economies, encourage collaboration and improve the quality of life of communities across the Province.
