APPI Calgary Event - The City of Calgary Indigenous Policy Framework and Indigenous Policy

Registration is closed for this event

Join Lorna Crowshoe of The City of Calgary, Calgary Neighbourhoods for a presentation on The City's Indigenous Policy and Framework.

After consultations with Treaty 7 traditional knowledge keepers, urban indigenous people and City stakeholders, the Calgary Aboriginal Urban Affairs Committee proposed the Indigenous Policy and Indigenous Policy Framework. Together, they recommend and guide meaningful long-term efforts to bring indigenous identities, histories, cultures, languages, traditions, principles, world views, relationships and ways of knowing into municipal planning, and advise The City's and decision-making efforts. City Council approved the policy and framework in April 2017.

Lorna is an Issues Strategist managing the Indigenous Portfolio and provides advice on Indigenous subject matter to Business Units across the City of Calgary.  She recently provided leadership to two City reports; White Goose Flying - a City of Calgary response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action, and the City's Indigenous Policy Framework and Indigenous Policy. Lorna serves as one of two Vice-Chairs of the Board of Governors for the National Trust, and as a member of the University of Lethbridge, Faculty of Management Advisory Board.
