Education Session  #1    8:00  – 11:30 AM
MINDFUL Career and Life Management Workshop

3.5 Structured Learning Units

Presented by: Lisa Dare
Conventional career planning has traditionally been a process of aligning external personal characteristics with suitable occupational roles.  With an increasingly complex and fast moving world, career development has evolved significantly.  This interactive hands on session will provide members the opportunity to design an individualized action plan that integrates both career and personal life aspirations.  The workshop will employ strategies and tools that enable participants to approach career development from a holistic view with greater intention and purpose.

As a lifelong learner Lisa Dare brings a unique perspective to her work as an executive coach, facilitator and management consultant.  She is the principal and CEO of Lisa Dare & Associates.  Her unusual career path has traversed the health care industry to pharmaceutical sales prior to establishing her coaching and consulting practice.  Lisa has had the opportunity to work with numerous high profile clients such as Nova Chemicals, Cenovus, Bow Valley College, Enbridge and the City of Calgary.  In addition to holding a BSc in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and a PCC designation as a credentialed coach, she is certified in a number of tools including the Prosci change management certification, EQi, Hogan and Birkman assessments.

Education Session  #2    1:30 – 4:30 PM
What are the roles of Planning and Planners in future Inter-municipal Cooperation?

3.0 Structured Learning Units

Presented by: Gail Sokolan, RPP, MCIP Moderator and representatives from AUMA, AAMDC and Alberta Municipal Affairs

The focus of the workshop will be on changes made in Bill 20 and 21 related to MDPs, IDPs, ICFs and Growth Management Boards. The workshop will explore implications of the changes for municipalities and provide an opportunity for APPI members to identify, from a professional planning perspective, what will be needed to comply with and implement these changes.

A general presentation of relevant Bill 20 and Bill 21 changes (what was there before and what is there now). AUMA and AAMDC will identify what this means to their member municipalities.

Breakout groups will address the roles of planning and planners in future intermunicipal legislative requirements. Groups will report back and results will be collated and shared with workshop participants and presenters.
