APPI Webinar - Resilient Calgary: Our Journey

Registration is closed for this event

This session will provide an overview of the City of Calgary and community journey in developing and implementing Resilient Calgary, a strategy designed to help Calgary be aware of the stresses and shocks that can disrupt its people and places from our day to day and take action now to foster resilience.
Described by some as a “meta plan” that evolved from the catalyst event of the 2013 flood, the Resilient Calgary strategy identifies four pillar areas and an overarching future focused theme that has proven foundational to the current pandemic response and economic recovery.

This webinar will be presented by Christine Arthurs, an APPI member with 25 years of progressive planning, emergency management and leadership experience at The City of Calgary. Chris will share some of the early co-benefits thinking - fostered in her early career planning experience - that has matured over time and is a foundation of her collaborative leadership style.  The 3L approach of “lens, lift and leverage” that permeates the resilience strategy implementation will be explored as a tool for collaboration and shared commitment to achieving strategy goals. This presentation will share the development and implementation progress of the strategy, its value and application in the current pandemic context, and how all communities can benefit from sharing a resilience mindset.
