Place 18 National Student Planning Conference
Art Gallery of Alberta Networking Night & Social!
(Price: $25.00) Join your local professionals, students, and enthusiasts in celebrating the culture of urban and regional planning in one of Edmonton's most iconic buildings: the Art Gallery of Alberta. A welcome from Edmonton's Mayor, Don Iveson, and local journalist Tim Querengesser will explore Edmonton's and Alberta's planning challenges and opportunities. Dinner hor d'oeuvres will be provided during this evening of learning, networking, and socializing.
Place 18 is the first National Students Planning Conference to occur since 2014. Conferences such as these are affordable and targeted towards those students and young professionals who often have limited financial resources and conference experience; it allows them to more fully immerse themselves in the professional world of conferences without the high price tag that often comes along with it.
It is our pleasure to announce that these conferences are returning, led by the Geography and Planning Students' Society at the University of Alberta. This year, PLACE 18 will provide attendees with the opportunity to engage in professional and academic presentations, workshops, and field trips to foster learning, networking, and information sharing. The theme of this year's conference is (re)connect; topics examined under this theme will include cycling infrastructure, transportation integration, flood mitigation strategies and responses, approaches to cannabis legalization, and much more.
PLACE 18 will take place at the University of Alberta’s North Campus in the heart of Edmonton from October 12th - 14th, 2018. Student tickets are only $75.00, and professional and faculty tickets are $155.00. These tickets include all sessions, meals, and events over the three days. We encourage all students, professionals, faculty, and anyone else interested to register as soon as possible for this conference. It would also be appreciated if any professionals can share this conference with their colleagues and students who may be interested. More information can be found on the website, at www.placeconference.ca.
The conference sessions may qualify for APPI structured learning units.
