SOLD OUT - APPI Edmonton Walking Tour - The Other 9-5 on Whyte Avenue

Registration is closed for this event
Come and see how urban planning can impact a city's nightlife.

Responsible Hospitality’s Street-as-a-Venue (SAV) is a program that treats an entire hospitality destination as a single entertainment venue or event. It’s about managing the other 9 to 5 (9 pm to 5 am). The Street-as-a-Venue program recognizes that in areas with a significant concentration of licensed premises, there are impacts to the community that are outside of the control of the nightlife businesses themselves.

Street-as-a-Venue is the community liaison and City services arm of Responsible Hospitality Edmonton (RHE). SAV is prevention and collaboration-based and strives to improve the vibrancy, attractiveness and safety within a late night entertainment area through provision of effective and efficient operational services and appropriate infrastructure. These efforts reduce the negative impact the late night businesses have on the quality of life for the surrounding community.

Attendees on tour of Whyte Avenue will gain understanding on how the six elements of Vibrancy, Quality of life, Venue and Public Safety, Late Night Transportation, Community Policing, and Patron Responsibility support
hospitality settings.

Attendees must bring a valid driver’s license or government ID, as there the tour will include stops at venues. This is a walking tour.

The event will take place on Friday, August 14, 2015 from 8:00pm to 10:15pm and will start on the northeast corner of Whyte Avenue and Gateway Boulevard (103 Street), by the public washrooms.

This event will be worth 2.5 CPL credits.

Space is limited to 20 attendees and pre-registration is required.  There is no cost to register.
