2021 APPI Conference EVOLUTIONOn October 4-6, we will gather with planning professionals for the 2021 APPI Conference. This year, we will connect by using a high-quality virtual delivery to bring an interactive experience where delegates will share ideas, lessons learned, emerging practices, and stories of the planning profession’s ever-changing landscape. Announcing the Sponsorship Program Sponsor Form and the Conference Schedule at A Glance! Registration is open! Click here to register Did you know that the registration includes access to view the majority of the session recordings after the conference? Not able to attend both days or just certain time slots? Registration gives you access to June 2022! Apply now for Beaumont’s Design Review CommitteeThe City of Beaumont is looking for urban design, architecture, planning, engineering, landscape architecture, development industry professionals and members of the community at large to join their Design Review Committee. This committee is a voluntary, skills-based panel that provides expert and impartial design advice on proposed developments. Applications are open from June 23 to August 15. All applicants will be contacted, regarding the status of their applications. Appointments will be made by August 31, 2021. Professional Portability - Working Across Provincial and Territorial JurisdictionsPlanners are required to register in a province or territory where they are living and/or working (i.e. if a person is registered in Ontario as an RPP, they can’t take a contract to work in Alberta and refer to themselves as an RPP, unless they are also registered with the Alberta Professional Planning Institute). There are penalties for using professional planning credentials in a jurisdiction that an individual is not registered in. Secondary memberships are available across the PTIAs for those who work in more than one jurisdiction. Contact your PTIA for more information. Through the on-going commitment and work of CIP, the PTIAs, the Standards Committee, and the Professional Standards Board, the implementation of these rights continues to be clarified and codified. As a result, members across Canada are free to transfer their memberships easily, and to move and work in other provinces or territories, and to have their RPP (and equivalent) designations respected and celebrated!
