APPI Member Special Considerations During Life Change or Challenges

If you are currently not practicing planning as the result of a life change or challenge (for example, parental leave, health or disability considerations, unemployed, recently retired or retiring at the beginning of 2021) you may be eligible to change from RPP or Candidate practicing status to RPP or Candidate Non-Practicing.

Continuous Professional Learning (CPL) Reporting Deadline: December 31, 2020

APPI Council appreciates that the current economic climate, COVID-19 and recent circumstances may have CPL consequences for APPI members.  However, APPI Council and the other PTIAs, across Canada have reaffirmed their commitment to a national and consistent approach to CPL, and have acknowledged that CPL may be of even more value to our members during these challenging times. Alberta Government Review of the Public Interest Disclosure (Whistleblower Protection) Act

On June 15, 2020, the Legislative Assembly of Alberta referred the Public Interest Disclosure (Whistleblower Protection) Act to the Standing Committee on Resource Stewardship for a comprehensive review in accordance with section 37 of the Act. 

The Committee is seeking input from stakeholders and individuals, and APPI members are invited to provide written submissions to the Standing Committee using this form. The deadline for  written submissions is 4:30 p.m. on November 30, 2020.  For more information, please visit https://www.assembly.ab.ca/assembly-business/committees/RS or call the Committee office at 780.422.9601.

Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP) - Update to the Wetland Assessment and Impact Form (WAIF)

The following activity has been added to the list of eligible low risk activities that now require a WAIF rather than a full Wetland Assessment and Impact Report (WAIR):
•    widening, improvements or maintenance of existing roads that take place within a registered road plan right of way
