APPI Seeking a Representative to Serve on the Safety Codes Council Barrier Free Sub-Council

The Safety Codes Council recently approved APPI as a nominating organization for the Barrier Free Sub-Council, representing the Commercial Construction/Land Development Industry segment.   Alberta’s safety codes system relies on partnerships with organizations like APPI to bring safety to a local level.  APPI has been asked to provide a minimum of two proposed nominees for consideration.  If you are a Registered Professional Planner (RPP) with planning expertise and a focus on Barrier Free, and you are interested in being considered as APPI’s representative on the Safety Codes Council Barrier Free Sub-Council, please send an email to the APPI office confirming your interest.  The email should include a cover letter profiling your background, experience and contact information as well as a resume of no more than two single-sided pages.  The profiles are necessary to ensure that only those with appropriate qualifications, experience, and knowledge are appointed as members of the Sub-Council in compliance with the criteria established in the Safety Codes Act, Council bylaws, and Council policy.

The deadline for expressions of interest is Friday October 26, 2018
The Sub-Council meets approximately four times a year, for an entire day, usually Wednesdays in Edmonton.  Members are also expected to serve as a two-way communication between the Council and their nominating organization.  The appointment term is three years, and members may serve up to three consecutive terms.

Final selection of the two APPI proposed nominees is at the discretion of APPI Council and the Barrier Free Sub-Council will select the final APPI appointee, to be recommended to the Council’s Board of Directors.  The Safety Codes Council thanks all nominees in advance for their willingness to assist the Council in achieving their vision of Alberta as a safe place to live, work, and play. The Safety Codes Council is an equal opportunity organization that values diversity.  For a copy of the Safety Codes Council member position description click here.
