APPI Congratulates the University of CalgaryWe are pleased to announce that the Professional Standards Board for the Planning Profession in Canada (PSB) has approved the re-accreditation of the Master of Planning, Faculty of Environmental Design, University of Calgary. APPI Edmonton Event - Mill Creek Ravine - Accidental Beach Bike TourSaturday, August 18, 2018 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM Registration is limited to 25 people. Click here to register and pay online. Meet at the Mill Creek Outdoor overflow parking lot. Edmonton's river valley and ravine system is the city's most precious amenity. It has also been the focus of controversy and complex planning issues for over a century. Roll through river valley / ravine planning past, present and future with Erik Backstrom, RPP, Senior Planner, Urban Initiatives with the City of Edmonton, and other presenters on a bike tour of the Mill Creek Ravine finishing at Accidental Beach. Topics will include transportation planning, parks and ecological planning, land use change, community activism and neighbourhood revitalization. The tour will be approximately 3 km with multiple stops. If it's a nice day (tour will go rain or shine) consider bringing a picnic lunch to enjoy at Accidental Beach after the tour.
*Please register early, as this event is capped at 25 persons.
Attendees are responsible to provide their own bicycle, helmet, water, lunch. Attendees are advised to bring sunscreen, bug repellent, a bicycle lock, and maybe a frisbee! This event qualifies for 2.0 structured learning units. FireSmart Community Series - Working Towards a Resilient AlbertaOctober 2 - 4, 2018 MacDonald Island Conference Centre, Fort McMurray, Alberta Every two years, the Alberta Wildfire Management Branch puts on the FireSmart Community Series. This event brings municipal and Indigenous community leaders, fire departments, mitigation experts and government staff together to network and learn about the innovative approaches to the FireSmart program that are taking place across Alberta. Over the last two years, Fort McMurray Forest Area staff and our Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo community partners have demonstrated incredible resilience as they navigate their recovery process, from a FireSmart perspective. We are extremely pleased to host the Community Series in Fort McMurray, as it will provide the opportunity to showcase the incredible work that is taking place, across all seven FireSmart disciplines.
