APPI is pleased to announce an Order in Council on May 29, 2018 was approved as presented by Honourable Ms Gray, 171/2018 Professional and Occupational Associations Registration Act (section 14) - Makes the Professional Planner Amendment Regulation.

The amendments to the Professional Planner Regulation are:
• To amend Section 22 of the Regulation pertaining to the Service of notices, to allow for the electronic transmittal of certain notices to the Institute.  (There are a number of sections in the Act and Regulation that deal with specific types of notices, which will continue to require written notice and will not allow for electronic transmittal.) 
• To remove the Regulation’s June 30, 2018 expiry date.
• To strengthen the Code of Conduct with respect to public interest.

A new resource is launching this month for planners and planning practitioners involved with Alberta’s regional plans. Created by fRI Research with support from the Land Use Secretariat, the Land Use Planning Hub is an informal network that supports the implementation of Alberta’s regional plans by sharing information, stories and feedback.

Aurora Cannabis is one of the biggest cannabis companies in the world and they are poised to have a significant impact on the local economies of urban regions throughout Alberta as they open production facilities across the province. Aurora Sky, one of the largest cannabis production facilities, will soon open next to the Edmonton International Airport. Here to give us insight into this rapidly growing company and emerging industry are Shawn Parchoma, Manager of Government Relations and Nick Whitehead, VP Market Development of Aurora Cannabis.
