APPI Edmonton Event - Cycling Edmonton’s Bike Infrastructure in Conjunction with ‘Open Streets’

We will meet at Parking Lot ‘E’ at the University of Alberta (Saskatchewan Drive, in front of Biological Sciences Building); Through the campus to 88 Avenue to see Edmonton's 1st dedicated bike lane (and / or Edmonton’s 1st example of tactical urbanism); East through Garneau on the bike paths to Mill Creek, then south through Donnan to 76 Avenue; North along Mill Creek Ravine bike paths to Muttart area, crossing the Low Level Bridge to the funicular;

Up the funicular to join with the ‘Missing Links / Open Streets’ event, organized by Paths for People on Jasper Avenue; West along through the events on Jasper to 109 Street; then south, crossing the High Level Bridge back to the U of A.

Ride through the City’s past and present bike infrastructure with Gary Buchanan, RPP, MCIP, Chair of the Professional Standards Board,and other presenters. Topics will include transportation planning, parks and ecological planning, land use change, community activism and neighbourhood revitalization. The tour will be approximately 5 km with multiple stops.

*Please register early, as this event is capped at 25 persons. Attendees are responsible to provide their own bicycle, helmet, water, and munchies. Attendees are advised to bring sunscreen, bug repellent, a bicycle lock, and camera!

This event qualifies for 2.0 structured learning units.
