APPI Edmonton Event - Tour of the Wetlands & Wetlands Ecology at the Wagner Natural Area

Registration is closed for this event

Meet at the Entrance Gate for the Wagner Natural Area

The Wagner Natural Area provides a wonderful and peaceful escape into a wetland ecosystem that showcases an array of natural biodiversity that is supported by wetlands in Alberta.  Over 300 plant species (1/6th of Alberta’s plants!) are found here. Join APPI for a Walking Tour of the Marl Pond Trail, hosted Jay White (P.Bio) and Claudia Palylyk (P.Ag, RPP), as they discuss the unique hydrology, ecology (plants & wildlife) and other features of the Wagner Fen and Marl Pond area.

Please bring the following items with you to ensure your comfort for the Trail Walk:  sturdy, waterproof hiking boots or rain boots; rain jacket and/or umbrella, mosquito repellent, sunscreen, a small field notebook, and your camera!
Note:  As the Wagner Natural Area is a very sensitive ecosystem, the following rules must be respected:
1. Must stay on the designated trails or boardwalk.
2. No pets (for this Event).
3. No smoking on the trails or on the boardwalk.
4. No collecting of plants or insects.
5. No ground disturbances.

*Please register early, as this Event is capped at 30 persons.  Refreshments (juice, water, & light snacks) will be provided.

The fee is $10.00 for members, non members and students. Families are welcome and those 16 years and younger are free!

Directions to the Event:  Wagner Natural Area is approximately 1.6 km west of the junction of Yellowhead Highway 16 and Highway 44.
