APPI Edmonton Event - The State of Alberta's Water Resources and Wetlands

Registration is closed for this event

The history of water rights dates back to 1886 in Alberta, when the first water apportionment license was given to the Eastern Irrigation District. Since that time, the Province has moved away from single-lens resource management and embraced a systems-thinking approach by managing Alberta’s water resources on the watershed scale. Join biologist Jay White as he discusses the state of Alberta’s water resources and wetlands, the challenges of water management in Alberta and the impacts that Land Use Planners and Urban Planners need to be aware of.

Jay White is a Professional Biologist and owner of Aquality Environmental Consulting Ltd. in Edmonton. Jay has considerable experience in water and wetland policy, environmental regulations, law, consultation, project management and consensus decision making. He is an entrepreneur, author, speaker and leader. He manages an amazing team of professional biologists who guide and support a variety of development activities. He is currently the Vice-President of the Alberta Water Council, past-president of the Alberta Lake Management Society and is currently active on the Provincial Whirling Disease Committee.
