APPI's ongoing mission is to provide all regulated members with quality service and benefits.

To comply with our collective requirements in the Alberta Professional Planner Regulation and our responsibility to the public interest, your APPI membership means that you receive the following services and resources:

Continuous Professional Learning Program

•must participate in the APPI Continuous Professional Learning Program (which will be administered via the APPI website in the future)

•map your Continuous Professional Learning Program using the Competency Tree

Monitoring Issues and Legislation

•have opportunities to contribute to and benefit from APPI efforts to monitor issues and legislation related to planning, and enhance the public and government’s planning knowledge

•have opportunities to contribute to and benefit from APPI efforts with the MGA and the Alberta Sustainability Planning Initiative (ASPI)

Professional Liability Insurance Program

•are covered by the APPI Professional Liability Insurance Program

•a summary pro bono legal advice to all planners participating in the Professional Liability Insurance Program

Publications and Communications

•receive regular communications via E News, Bulletins, Press Releases and Council Candour

•have access to Salary and Membership Surveys

•have access to links for other professional planning organizations, government and other groups

Events and Learning Opportunities

•organize and have access to regional events, WTPD events and education sessions

•are invited to attend APPI’s annual conference 2024 is the CIP National Conference in Edmonton

•have access to post secondary and other course offerings

•have access to recorded regional event presentations

Awards Program

•celebrate and participate in APPI members’ accomplishments through the APPI Awards for Planning Excellence and Merit, and individual APPI Awards

Participation and Engagement

•are part of the network of professional planners across Alberta, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, and can share in the collective expertise and experiences of our broad community

•receive opportunities to volunteer as APPI representatives with external planning related organizations and committees (e.g., Calgary Planning Commission, Edmonton Urban Design Panel, University of Calgary Faculty of Environmental Design (EVDS) Faculty Council)

•receive opportunities to volunteer on APPI committees
