APPI is pleased to announce that BMS Canada Risk Services Ltd (BMS Group) is the Institute’s exclusive insurance broker for all regulated members' Professional Liability Insurance (PLI), for 2020. Partnering with BMS supports APPI’s ongoing strategy of providing the most comprehensive and cost-effective liability coverage to our regulated members.  For 2020, APPI members will see enhanced coverage at a reduced cost, increased value and further improved services.  Some key highlights of the new program are:

·         Reduced insurance premiums from $45 to $44
·         Increased defense costs limits
·         10 year free extended reporting period for Non-Practicing and Retired members
·         Expanded territorial limits
·         Several new coverage enhancements

Extended Reporting Period for Retired and Non Practicing Members

As of January 1, 2018, APPI’s new PLI program includes a ten year Extended Reporting Period that is automatically available at no cost or additional premium for Retired and Non-Practicing Members who have been insured under the Institute’s  Insurance Program for a minimum of two (2) years. The Extended Reporting Period protects against claims that may arise for up to 10 years provided that the claim is related to prior incidents and exposures that occurred during their past practice and before the end of their last active policy.
