FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – March 28, 2017
|
APPI Council Candour
APPI Council met on Saturday, March 25, in Sherwood Park. We reviewed our progress on several fronts, including the ongoing strategic projects, MGA Task Force proposed amendments and more. Apart from the regular business of administration, we covered the following topics:
-
After our earlier feedback to the Professional Standards Committee was considered and addressed, APPI Council endorsed a new national definition of planning: “Planning weighs public interests and works collaboratively to shape decisions about land, resources, and services to create healthy, sustainable communities.”
- Council reviewed APPI’s ongoing strategic projects, confirmed progress on several initiatives and deferred some until the new strategic communications plan is completed and the new members of Council come on board.
-
In support of the communication plan’s development, Council began working on new value proposition statements, for building APPI’s brand awareness with key stakeholders and external audiences.
-
The MGA Task Force’s report regarding proposed amendments to MGA-related regulations was endorsed for submission to Alberta Municipal Affairs. Council would like to thank the Task Force members once again for their time and commitment in developing APPI’s response to this critical piece of provincial planning legislation.
-
Council is encouraged by the unprecedented level of interest in people running for Council this year and looks forward to welcoming several new Councillors at the AGM on April 27! Please watch for ballots and voting instructions in the mail and remember to vote for your preferred candidates.
