Continuous Professional Learning (CPL) Reporting Deadline: December 31, 2020
All regulated APPI members (Registered Professional Planners and Candidate members) are required to report their Learning Units (LU's) for 2020, on or before December 31, 2020. APPI applauds those 163 regulated members who are fully compliant with their 2020 CPL reporting and the additional 615 members who have reported some LU’s and are working towards compliance!
APPI Council appreciates that the current economic climate, COVID-19 and recent circumstances may have CPL consequences for APPI members. However, APPI Council and the other PTIAs, across Canada have reaffirmed their commitment to a national and consistent approach to CPL, and have acknowledged that CPL may be of even more value to our members during these challenging times.
The APPI CPL program demonstrates to the public and the Government of Alberta that the Institute is taking steps to ensure planning professionals are committed to ongoing professional learning and to maintaining the highest standards of skills, knowledge and professionalism. Compliance is the responsibility of each regulated member. APPI’s CPL program is flexible and members can easily acquire their LU’s via a variety of providers virtually or online at little or no cost.

CPL Reporting Special Considerations - If you have circumstances (for example, parental leave, health or disability considerations) that may prevent your ability to comply with the CPL program and would like to inquire about special consideration to reduce CPL reporting requirements, or if you require clarification about the CPL program, please contact the APPI Office.
Members who are non-compliant with the established criteria of the CPL program at the end of the calendar year shall be removed from the Register of members in Good Standing – effective January 1, 2021. Those same members remain “not in good standing” until they acquire and log their missing LU's, and formally request their membership to be reactivated via confirmation of CPL compliance, submission of a reactivation form and reactivation fee.
If you need additional information pertaining to your CPL activity, or clarification about the CPL program, please contact the APPI office.
