APPI Council Candour

The 2020 – 2021 Council met for the first time together this term on the evenings of June 18th and 19th, 2020, using a virtual platform in light of Coronavirus health and safety restrictions; as typically Council have held our annual Retreat at Pigeon Lake in-person for the past few years. Please click here for the 2020 – 2021 Council Bio’s.

The new Council’s first time together consisted of an Orientation that involved an overview of roles and responsibilities of APPI Council, overview of Council meetings and protocol, and Governance Training. We then hosted our first regular Council meeting of the year.

Arising from the regular Council Meeting:

  • Council would like to announce that Jeff Chase will be the Council Treasurer and Heather Chisholm will be the Council Secretary. Thank you for both putting your names forward and we look forward to both of your leadership in these roles!
  • APPI Council ratified the list of Accredited University Planning Programs as recommended by the Professional Standards Board.
  • Considering the circumstances relating to Coronavirus as it has impacted projected costs and revenues, Council reviewed the Financial Reports and we are happy to report that APPI's financials are on track and on budget.
  • Council is looking forward to updating the APPI Website. Stay tuned!
  • Council will continue to move forward with the implementation of the 2020 – 2023 APPI Strategic Plan and look forward to the new perspectives of the incoming Council.

Council’s next scheduled event is this September to meet with planning students with the University of Alberta and University of Calgary. This is a great time to meet and greet with Council and for some of our more experienced RPP's to meet with future planning talent. Please watch for updates closer to the date.

Registration is now open for APPI’s first ever virtually held conference: Beyond Success – Growth by Failure, scheduled September 21 -23, 2020 (click here to register).

If you would like to get in touch with Council, please contact our Executive Director MaryJane Alanko at [email protected].

See you in September!!
