May 20, 12:00 - 1:00 PM Linking Land Use Planning and Parks Practices (or Why Only the "Loons" Show Up)

This webinar will explore the connection between land use planning and recreation and leisure service delivery in the 1960-2010 period in Edmonton, using Blue Quill and Greenview neighbourhoods as case study sites. It will provide the webinar participant a lens from the perspective of a planner embedded in an operational parks service function/department, bridging space creation in land use change processes, to place creation in an operational parks service delivery processes (i.e., funding, animation/programming, maintenance). The two are inextricably linked, influence each other, and have evolved over time. That evolution underlays park creation and disposition controversies in the press and in the literature. Presented by Dr. Robert Priebe, RPP. This webinar qualifies for 1.0 structured learning unit.
