Zoey Roy - Activating our Humanity for a Brighter Community: We are excited to announce an enriching closing plenary session and workshop with Zoey on Tuesday, October 8th! Zoey Roy is a spoken word poet, community-based educator, community engagement consultant, author, filmmaker activist, and social entrepreneur based out of Saskatoon. She is a connector and has a passion for building community. Zoey is passionate about enabling people to reach their potential by eliminating barriers. Her Cree-Dene-Metis roots and career as an artist working with Indigenous and Canadian youth give her a unique insight into working to build relationships between different groups. Join Zoey to lean about how relationship building can help strengthen our communities at home in Alberta!
Tours: Exciting tours of Fort McMurray are being offered! Come see one of Alberta’s most talked about cities. Whether you choose to attend the timely FireSmart session and learn about mitigating fire risk in Wood Buffalo and other forest communities, or attend a tour that sheds light on Wood Buffalo’s unique arts and culture scene, there is a tour to suit everyone.
How can we become “Weavers”? Attend this session and learn about how decreasing social isolation, and moving away from a culture of hyper-individualism, can strengthen our communities by decreasing numerous societal problems.
