APPI 2019 Spring Education Sessions

We are pleased to offer two education sessions and the professional ethics course on Friday, April 26, 2019. Gain your continuous professional learning units early!

Lower Level Training Room, Castell Building, 616 MacLeod Trail SE, Calgary.

Please register and pay online by 4:00 PM, April 22nd. Refunds will not be issued, however, if you must cancel, the registration may be transferred. Session attendees must register separately for the AGM.

2A Abundant Community

2.0 Structured Learning Units. This interactive presentation will introduce attendees to this community development building program, provide stories from the neighbourhood and highlight the importance of having connected neighbourhoods, community plans and how these strengthen a sense of belonging in the place where people live.  The presenters will also introduce the Sense of Community in Neighbourhoods survey, an internationally recognized instrument, that was used city-wide in Edmonton last year.  The presenters are Deanne Patsula, RPP, MCIP Senior Planner and Ocean Luo, Community Planner, City of Edmonton. Fees: Members: $105.00; Non Members: $147.00; Students: $52.50 GST included.

3A Transit Planning 101

1.75 Structured Learning Units. This session is intended to assist planners to understand the complexities of transit planning in relation to land use planning and will appeal to planners working in large urban, small urban, and rural contexts. Presenter: David Kosior, Transit Planner, Calgary Transit, City of Calgary. Fees: Members: $105.00; Non Members: $147.00; Students: $52.50 GST included.

4A Regulating the Profession: Rules to Live (or Die) By

1.0 Structured Learning Unit. There is not a fee to attend this session, however, online pre-registration is required, click on your choice above. This course will provide an overview of the professional standards of conduct governing planners.  The new Professional Code of Practice will be the central focus and will be used to generate group discussion about issues confronting planners working in the public service and private industry. Presenter: Roy Wright RPP, MCIP
