APPI Student Scholarships and Awards

APPI annually recognizes and awards the achievement of students entering or enrolled in post-secondary institutions with an interest in planning as a profession.

The APPI Student Education Scholarships are intended to provide monetary assistance to students for tuition, research, books or other academic expenses. These awards are evaluated based on the entirety of the application and overall merit. Click here for the application form.  A maximum of three (3) scholarships will be granted at $1500 each.

The APPI Student Conference Awards are intended to assist students financially in their attendance and participation at the APPI Annual Conference, CIP Annual Conference, CPAA Annual Conference or other planning-related conferences. These awards are evaluated based on the entirety of the application and overall merit. Click here for the application. A maximum of two (2) awards will be granted for the reimbursement of allowable expenses to a maximum of $1500 each.

The deadline for both submissions is 3:00 PM Tuesday, March 19, 2019 and the winners will be recognized at the 2019 APPI Volunteer Awards and Appreciation Celebration in Calgary, April 26, 2019.

APPI is interested in hearing from students who demonstrate an interest in the field of planning and advancing their planning education. Applicants are encouraged to be creative with their entries and may submit for both the education scholarship and conference award. The applicant may win in both categories.

Students do not have to be APPI members to be eligible for an Education Scholarship or Conference Award but must be entering or enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in a planning or planning related field of study within Alberta, Nunavut or Northwest Territories. Students completing their final year in 2019 are eligible to apply. The submission details and evaluation criteria are outlined on the application forms which are now available here, http://www.albertaplanners.com/awards&recognition.

Only the winning recipients will be contacted.  Please visit the APPI website for the posted results.
