National Indigenous History Month

In recognition APPI has compiled a list of events and resources you can participate in. APPI and its members recognize their responsibility to truth and reconciliation, and acknowledge that along side Indigenous Peoples, Planners and communities can play a significant role in reconciliation and contributing to the learning and healing process. APPI has created a page on its website dedicated to Truth and Reconciliation learning and awareness resources.

June is Indigenous History Month and in recognition APPI encourages its members to explore and reflect on the rich histories and cultures of all Indigenous Peoples. Here is a small sampling of the many events and resources available to celebrate and recognize Indigenous History Month.   Be sure to check out what your community is doing to celebrate.

Watch this short film “Round up” click here, which traces Pete Standing Alone's personal journey from cultural alienation to pride and belonging. As a spiritual elder, teacher, and community leader of the Kainai Nation of Southern Alberta, Pete works with youth to repair the cultural and spiritual destruction wrought by residential schools.
