Banff Net Zero 2035 is a bold transformative project that aims to move Banff to net zero carbon by 2035. The project includes dedicated passenger rail from the Calgary airport to Banff, aerial transit from Banff to Mount Norquay and a pedestrian friendly downtown. Joe Pavelka is a member of the Banff Net Zero 2035 Working Group.

Joe Pavelka has worked in the areas of travel, recreation and parks for over three decades as a practitioner, academic and consultant. Joe is professor of Ecotourism and Outdoor Leadership at Mount Royal University in Calgary Alberta Canada, and Principle at Planvision Consulting International Inc. Joe’s consulting work began in public recreation and parks in the early 1990s. Today most of it relates to destination management, rural recreation-tourism planning and sustainable tourism. He began working with the Banff Liricon project in 2018 in the areas of public consultation and tourism planning. In 2020, Joe was asked to be a member of the Working Group of the Banff Net Zero 2035.
