2023 APPI Employment Survey Report

CIP and the Provincial and Territorial Institutes and Associations (PTIAs) released the results of the second comprehensive nation-wide compensation and benefits survey of Canadian professional planners on January 14, 2024. The survey had 1,727 respondents nationally, of which 173 were members of APPI, representing 10% of the survey participants. Ninety-six percent of the 173 APPI respondents reside in Alberta, with 3% residing in the Northwest territories, and 1% in Nunavut. However, since the response was relatively small (173), the results should be interpreted with caution.

The survey results provide an updated picture of the state of employment for professional planners in Canada. The survey found that following the pandemic, almost two-thirds of respondents (63%) have a hybrid working model, 29% are back in the office (29%), and 7% are fully remote.
